< Back to all about

The venue is located at 278 S-Low Road, Seal Rock, Or. 97376.

From Newport, OR:

  • Go south to Brian Booth State Park
  • Turn left on to N Beaver Creek Rd
  • In 1 mile, turn right on to S Beaver Creek Rd
  • In 2.5 miles, turn left on to N S-Low Road
  • In 500 feet the Artbarn driveway is on right. Please park in the parking area there.

We encourage you to carpool if driving! If you want to offer or find a seat please use this etherpad https://public.etherpad-mozilla.org/p/makerland-rideshare

If driving from Portland, be aware that Highway 20 between Corvallis and Newport will be closed evenings for construction. Therefore the fastest route during the day is Portland to Corvallis to Newport to Seal Rock, but if driving at night the best option will be Portland to Lincoln City to Seal Rock.

If you aren't driving, there is a combination of Bolt Bus to Albany and the Valley Retriever to Newport that takes about 4 hours from Portland, but the Bolt Bus has Wifi and its all on the freeway so it's actually not bad for getting some work done.

If interested in getting a ride from Newport to Seal Rock, please contact the organizers at the email above and we'll make sure you get transport to Seal Rock.

Campers can arrive Friday evening (August 19th) or Saturday morning (August 20th). A welcoming presentation will take place Saturday at 11:30AM and campers can leave Sunday night (the 21st) or Monday morning (the 22nd).

Call For Workshops

There won't be any talks at Maker Land, only workshops. The goal is to do something fun that has a hands-on and/or physical component and inspires participants to dive deeper into the subject area in the future. Maker Land workshops are ideally accessible to a range of skill sets and encourages participants to work together to build something that they can demo at the end. An ideal workshop time period is 1-2 hours. If approved you will be notified by email.

Use the following Google Form to submit an idea:

You will be in a barn in the forest, and the internet connection will probably not be blazing fast. Try to come up with something that works without great internet and/or has a physical/real-world/hands-on component.

Contact the organizers @denormalize and @jonhannis with any questions.
